This is an invitation to digression. Your question is certainly
important, but I'd much rather you introduce it with a separate top-post
with "Subject: [1129-ClearInputValues] Dealing with UIData", for
example.

I'll do it in this case, but please don't feel shy about top-posting to
preserve thread integrity.

Please indulge this significant limitation of your humble spec-lead.
