Other platforms like SAP NetWeaver have yet another name for those kinds of

What most of these have in common is, that they're located in "META-INF",
but that is about the only thing standardized about these files.
Reza mentioned the JCA EG and most likely they're among the few that
currently use RAR files:

As RAR files may be deployed both inside and outside an EAR, this seems like
a good point to explore.
Therefore, the RAR file as such has been specified already, but most of what
is currently in other separate places (the "META-INF" folder inside an EAR,
WAR or other artifacts) and worth standardizing should probably go into a
file like that.
Including the proposed configurations, Linda mentioned earlier.
