well, simply put.. IE 6 was thought to have an issue that prevented you from streaming (not polling) comet content without the spinner running and hosing up the forward and back buttons. The contribution made earlier by Kawajiri Takeshi , illustrated a technique that uses ActiveXObject to create an inner document which is created in a seperate "compartment" thus not effecting the current document while allowing you to interact with it.

sorry i didn't follow the complete Thread, but can you describe in few lines what the sample do that plain comet doesn't ? I never try comet, lack of times, but I'm planning to start in few weeks, and I'll have a better understanding of the context.
or I can wait for the blog :)
