However I have noticed some pros and cons my my approach, as its not
perfect.

I also found that there was a nice optional plugin for the m2eclipse (maven
2 integration) that allows you to "Check out as Maven Project" as seen here:

Which is nice, but the issue is that eclipse doesnt display the sub-project
nicely, rather it lists them one by one below each other, which is a lot to
look at and can get overwhelming...

Not as nice as the netbeans 6.1 approach, but at least this way all the
projects are able to be referenced, and can be managed easily, which is what
Maven is all about. Hopefully there will be an improvement to Eclipse that
will allow the sub-project in Maven to be listed inside other projects.
