I've no problem having a new interface to do the management, but we
should try to keep the existing interface without breaking compatibility
(if possible). Maybe you can send a proposal to the list before
committing if this is a major re-design. That can be just a couple of
lines describing what you are planning to do. But if that's simple, go
ahead and commit.
