You might be able to set the FlushMode to AUTO. But I only know how to do that with hibernate, not other EJB implementations

The examples in the tutorial are a little bit misleading. Their servlets also miss the [i]em.flush()[/i] call. No updates are made to the underlying database table, either.
Adding [i]em.flush()[/i] fixes the problem.
