Due to popular demand we will begin to take action against users
whose auto-reply messages clog the GlassFish aliases (most
prominently, users and dev). We realize this is a problem with some
mail servers, but the impact is simply causing too much clutter and
getting in the way of productivity.
Beginning today, users whose auto-response reply messages are
generated in reply to every messageĀ -- including users whose e-mail
messages are blocked by virtue of the Moderate function -- will be
unsubscribed.
If you are unsubscribed, you will receive a notice from the Sympa
mail auto-bot alerting you of this fact. This e-mail contains a
reply link which you may use to re-subscribe upon your return.
Alternately, you can browse to
http://java.net/projects/glassfish/lists
and click the Subscribe button below the Users and/or Dev alias. In
addition, you may review all content that was circulated in your
absence with the Archive view facility of java.net. From the lists
page (link above), Click "Browse Archives", or, for the GlassFish
users list, click
this
link.
You can avoid this by either suspending mail delivery, or switching
your subscription / delivery preference to Digest, before you leave
the office. Unfortunately, the administrators cannot do this for
you, so if you don't take action, we'll have to resort to the more
draconian Unsubscribe method during your office vacancy.
You may set your e-mail delivery method to digest, in the Kenai UI.
Browse to your "subscriptions" page and you can view all your
settings in one form (Login to Java.net, Click your user ID, click
Edit My Profile, Click the Subscriptions tab.)
You can suspend your e-mail subscriptions, and remain subscribed by
e-mail as follows:
send a message to
sympa@glassfish.java.net
In the body include, one line, for each list you are subscribed to:
SET dev NOMAIL
SET users NOMAIL
QUIT
To return to your previous subscription settings, send another
message to:
sympa@glassfish.java.net with the following
SET dev MAIL
SET users MAIL
QUIT
You can save these messages, to simplify this process for future
office vacancies. You can follow this recipe for other projects you
are also a member of, just change the e-mail destination to
sympa@<project>.java.net, and adjust the lists accordingly.
Enhancements for some mail servers, are in the works and we hope
those will alleviate this problem soon. Until then, we apologize for
this inconvenience, if you are unsubscribed.
