Note that you cannot apply *updates* from Admin console, only install additional components and based on your log content it seems that you installed several new 3.1 packages on top of existing v3 or 3.0.1 installation and this won't work unless you also update the rest of your installation to 3.1 using "updatetool" or "pkg" utilities.
Can you run 'pkg list -f' command from <gf installation directory>/bin and post the output?
