The Spring Framework was designed to simplify and solve *all* of your issues. There is a learning curve but it is well worth the effort if you expect situations like this in the future. You will find that all the components you use will fit together very easily and you won't even need ejbs. There are also many excellent books available providing design guidance. Take the time to learn Spring and you will never look back!
