We are perplexed at the contents of the "update 8" release as compared to the earlier updates downloaded from:
http://java.sun.com/javaee/downloads/previous/index.jsp?userOsIndex=6&userOsId=windows&userOsName=Windows
Update 6:
Filename: java_ee_sdk-5_06-{arch}
Contains Toplink Essentials: 2.0.1-b04-fcs (04/11/2008)
Identifies itself as: [Sun Java System Application Server 9.1_02 (build b04-fcs)]
Update 7:
Filename: java_ee_sdk-5_07-jdk-6u16-{arch}
Contains Toplink Essentials: 2.1-b60e-fcs (12/23/2008)
Identifies itself as: [Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v2.1 (9.1.1) (build b60e-fcs)]
Update 8:
Filename: java_ee_sdk-5_08-jdk-6u18-{arch}
Contains Toplink Essentials: 2.1-b31g-fcs (10/19/2009)
Identifies itself as: [Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v2.1.1 ((v2.1 Patch
06)(9.1_02 Patch12)) (build b31g-fcs)]
We've maintained own internal Wiki page to clarify Glassfish versioning, but this Update 8 has left us confused.
Update 8 seems to be later than 7 in some respects (2.1.1 vs 2.1) but earlier in others (9.1_02 vs 9.1.1, b31g vs b60e)
Could someone from Sun please explain ?
Also please clarify the multitude of different version nomenclatures?
Particularly could you clarify why U8 contains an earlier Toplink Essentials build ?
Also, why it it no longer possible to download the toplink essentials v2.1-b60e or v2.1-b60f builds separately, the links to binaries are broken (though the source is available). Or is v2.1-b60 (with no letter) the latest?
