Today we saw a problem with a connection pool that was stuck. All the connections to a MS-SQL database were coming back with "The connection is closed" exceptions. While exploring things, we tried to ping from the admin console and the ping worked. Then all the connections in the pool started working.
Experimenting with this a bit more it seems that the entire connection pool is dropped and re-deployed when Ping is clicked. Is that by design?
