I hope you guys manage to solve the problem by now but just for future reference...
I had a similar problem on Windows 2008 Server with Glassfish 2.1.
My server was connecting to remote EJB on a different machine and the remote machine was throwing this error.
We opened inbound ports (range 52000-52100) in the EJB calling server firewall and since then we have not seen this issue.
