I'm trying to make jconsole work remotely through a firewall. I've found the following http://blogs.sun.com/tronds/entry/glassfish_and_jmx_through_a which describes a property to control the dynamic port allocation
<jvm-options>-Dcom.sun.aas.jconsole.server.cbport=18687</jvm-options>
but this does not appear to work. The blog post claims to have tested this in patch04 but I'm not convinced it works.
