If you have installed GlassFish v3 Preview (or Java EE 6 SDK Preview),
starting today you will see an "updates available" notification.

As discussed on quality mailing list couple of weeks ago[1], we were
working on releasing an update to GlassFish v3 Preview through update
center. I am happy to announce that the updates were made available
around 11 am pacific today. In addition to updating the server from
build b47.4 to b57, this will also update the update center from version
2.1 to version 2.2.2.

While we tried to test as many update scenarios as possible, we might
have missed some. If you do run into issues, please report it on
glassfish users or quality mailing list. We will try our best to address
the issue for next update.

During our testing, we uncovered a few issues and here is a summary --

   1. If you have downloaded hibernate from glassfish repository, you
will run into the glassfish issue 9305 [2]. As a workaround,
please remove hibernate or do not update glassfish server. We are
working on resolving this issue and expect to either update
hibernate or glassfish version to address it.
   2. On MacOS, updating the update tool packages will result in a
message similar to "Update Tool was updated and needs to restart".
However, on clicking the "Ok" button the tool does not restart
[3]. The workaround is to start the tool manually.

I am hoping that some of the readers will go through the update process
and write a nice blog for others to follow.

Thanks,

Abhijit
