Just to clarify: There is no asadmin.conf. I got it working by putting
the following in the asenv.conf:
AS_JAVA="/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home"
JAVA_JVM_VERSION="1.6"
