Yes, but a RI doesn't have to be full-fledged, clustered, easily administered, extensible, supported, etc...

Glassfish under Sun's lead was poised to become the leading contender to the tier-1 app servers, given their big-time investments in GF. , I have a hard time seeing Oracle investing in something that will cannibalize sales of WLS.

They do need to have something to compete with RedHat/JBoss AS so GF might fill a niche there, but they would still have to throttle-investment so that they can motivate the price-gap to WLS.
