7 sec is the default - you can change it in domain.xml (unless you are trying it in v3 where this value didn't (yet) make it into domain.xml).
There is already a bug open about strange timimg (
https://glassfish.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=6842) but I saw so far that after some short time the tiemouts stabilize, and while you'll never see exactly 1000 ms, it should become something a bit less but close enough.
Are you using an MDB or a SLSB for your test?
