Thanks Jeanfrancois ... that did the trick. Both mod_jk & mod_proxy_ajp work fine once I set that property (jkEnabled) to true.

I need to update the bug as the property's name has changed. Can you try adding:
<property name"jkEnabled" value="[true|false]"/>
under the http-listener you are looking at?
