app won't start after moving a JSP

We've a JSF app built with the NetBeans visual web editor and using the
ICEfaces components. We had a mishap when moving a JSP to a
subdirectory, and had to manually change the bean definitions (e.g. from
Reports to charts$Reports) in both JSP and faces-config. At this point
the app compiles clean (and shows normally in the NetBeans visual web
editor), but will not run.

The app deploys normally and shows up in the admin console, but when I
try to run it, I get a 503. I'm not seeing anything in the logs, even
after setting several levels to FINE. The only interesting thing I see
is in the app's own log file: I have a context listener attached, and
when I deploy, I never see a contextInitialized event. But when I
re-deploy, that event does fire... but only just before the
contextDestroyed event.

Can anybody give me any pointers in debugging this?
