Cache invalidation policies are not available in TopLink Essentials. The framework exists though so if you wanted to create your own and apply it to the Persistence Unit through a Session Customizer there is an example here : http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=178488
Also check out the EclipseLink source on Eclipse.org for other Invalidation Policies under the org.eclipse.persistence.descriptors.invalidation package.
