Could you share what your cluster comprises of ? And the nodes (machines) and server instances involved ?
If all of these hosts have instances that are part of the cluster, then these instances will need to participate in the multicast group for both cluster discovery and health monitoring.
Also, could you share what your concern is with multicast traffic?
