you have to have the DriverType=4 otherwise the default is to use a type 2 driver and it sounds like you did not specify this.
The ping works fine for me via com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2ConnectionPoolDataSource as well.
You only need the jars i specified if you are only using the type 4 driver.
