is it probably some parameter in the deployment descriptor (sun-ejb-jar.xml), like the Removal Timeout ??? But I tried a removal timeout of 5 seconds (without the EJB starting a thread, so no references and free to GCed), and ejbRemove was not invoked?
By the way: I've never seen that ebjRemove was invoked at any time.... :(
