I think it should be possible to do it for 9.1 to 9.1 UR1 because the scope of changes are limited and therefore your configuration should not require an upgrade. You will need to layout the newer bits and do the basic configuration of asenv.conf file.
Harpreet recently modularized setup.xml and added a few targets to make it simple. I will let him chime in with more details.
