The team was aware of the com.sun.jsftemplating.layout.SyntaxException during server startup when using NetBeans. This exception was just a warning, and doesn't cause any function lost. Until recently, we also see java.lang.StackOverflowError showing up.

and against Glassfish. https://glassfish.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2048 relating to this.
The team is actively working on this issue, thanks for your patience while we are trying to resolve this.

AFAIK, this exception occurs for developer profile only. Cluster profile is fine. Also, for developer profile, restart is working fine, without any issue. A work around is to startup the server using Glassfish CLI instead of inside NetBeans.
