OK, so this doesn't look right at all... Admin GUI update list should
contain only updates to its own installed image and while it is
perfectly possible to have an update where the resulting change in the
installed content size is 0 KB these packages should not show as updates...

what was the download URL of the distribution you used? One scenario
where something like this could happen is if you picked up nightly build
instead of promoted one. In that case, packages would have same version,
but different timestamp and would show up as updates since promoted
build packages are now available in the external repository.
