Eve:
Is it possible to run nmap against your development machine from another PC?
Or, can you try to telnet to that port? [At the command prompt:
telnet 127.0.0.1 1433]
If telnet isn't installed go to Control Panel Home --> Programs -->
Turn Windows features on or off --> Check Telnet client. Click OK.
