Binod,
The system works now, I am able to read the message from the queue and
for now I am loggig the messages. Thank you very much for your help.

The first time the appserver is started and when there is no message in
the queue, there is only one connection to MQ. However, I notice that
when the first batch of messages arrives at the queue, the pool creates
9 connections to MQ and they remain connected. Is it the way it is
supposed to work? I have configured the initial pool size as 8 and max
as 32( the default). When I add more MDBs to handle many more queues, I
am wondering if this will grow to the max or even more. What is your
thought about the best way to handle this. (The good thing is that the
number of connections don't accumulate to hundreds as earlier.!!)

Thanks again,
Ajith

Create only qcf.... i.e def(qcf)

You cannot use XAQCF, as you dont have extended transaction client.
Always use QCF.

Scroll down to your ejb-jar.xml
