Binaries for Generic JMSRA 1.0 are not JDK 1.4 compatible

I'm trying to integrate GenericJMSRA with WebSphere 6.0.2, and running
into problems with the binary distribution provided for Generic JMSRA 1.0.

***

When I install the RAR, I get an error message from WebSphere...
Caused by: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError:
com/sun/genericra/GenericJMSRA (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)

I presume this means that the class files in the distribution were built
with a JDK 1.5 compiler. This jives with an issue posted back in
September pointing out the same deficiency with the binary distribution of
GenericJMSRA 0.9.

Since this is designed to work with J2EE 1.4 app servers, which are
designed with JVM 1.4.x support, I'm kinda puzzled why the binary
distribution is not compiled with JRE 1.4 compatibility. Is there some
reason for this, that the ResourceAdapter doesn't run under JRE 1.4? I'm
trying now to build the RAR from scratch, but have run into problems with
Eclipse/IBM RAD, so now I'm down to a DOS command line (ugh).

Do y'all happen to have a JRE 1.4 compatible binary you could package up?
For that matter, has anyone made GenericJMSRA work with WebSphere 6.0.2
(and the default messaging provider shiped with WAS - I am not using
WebSphere MQ)

Thanks very much.
