Pete,

I think you'll find that we might be more or less talking about exactly
the same thing :-). I am still trying to write this up ASAP (might not
be done until the weekend). Even if we can't get it done this time
around, it could be a good discussion for when the EJB EG is convened
next. The fundamental concepts are something I'm discussing in the "The
Future of EJB" chapter in the current revision of EJB 3 in Action (with
no expectations as to future standardization).
