Content tab of the Chart & Grid tab (Gantt Only)

Overview

Use the Content tab of the Chart & Grid tab to specify which fields you want to display, font formatting, and text wrap settings.

Screen Elements

Show option

Select to show the Gantt Chart and Grid, only the Gantt Chart, or only the Grid in the layout. Gantt Chart and Grid is selected by default. If you select to show only the Gantt Chart, all other options on this tab are disabled.

Grid Position list

You can choose to show the grid to the left of the Gantt chart or to the right of the Gantt chart. This option is disabled if show Grid is selected.

Show line numbers option

Select to display the Line Numbers column in the Grid. The heading for the Line Numbers column is #. It cannot be customized. This column is always the first column, and it cannot be moved.

If grouping is used, numbering will only apply to what is displayed. If a band is collapsed, only the band, not the entries within it, will be numbered.

Add button

Click to add a field to the Grid. The position of a new field assignment defaults to the next available column number and the highest row number of all entries in the list.

Delete button

Click to remove a field from the Grid. You can also click the x next to the field entry.

Default button

Applies the default fields to the grid, which includes Activity ID, Activity Name, Start, and Finish.

Field list

Lists the name of the fields that appear in the layout. Double-click a field to use the field picker to choose a different selection.

Display Title field

Enter a new name for the Field name. This is the name that will display in the Grid. By default the display title is the field name selected in the Field column. To reset the title back to its original name, blank out the entry.

Column list

Lists the column position of the field in the layout.

Row list

Lists the row position of the field in the layout.

Note

• If you specify the same column and row for fields, the fields will draw on top of each other.
• While gaps in numbering are allowed, gaps will be closed when the diagram is drawn.

Font area

You can customize the font, font style, font size, and color of text in the grid.

The settings in the Font area only apply to the selected field to the left and are only enabled for plain text fields, not HTML fields. P6 Visualizer uses the font for HTML fields set in P6 Professional or P6.

Text Wrap area

The settings in the Text Wrap area only apply to selected field to the left. This area does not apply when a table field (Step Name and Step % Complete) is selected.

When a plain text field is selected, the following settings appear:

Wrap text option

Select to wrap text in fields. This option is selected by default.

Maximum Number of Lines field

Enter or select the maximum number of lines that should be included in each row.

Maximum Field Width field

Enter or select the maximum width of the wrap text field.

Note

• If you specify zero as the maximum field width, the width is auto-sized and no longer wraps text.
• Once the maximum number of lines and width is reached, any remaining data will not be drawn.
• When an HTML field, such as Notebook Topic, is selected, the following settings appear:

Maximum Label Width field

Enter or select the maximum width of the HTML field.

Maximum Label Height field

Enter or select the maximum height of the HTML field.

Note If you specify zero as the maximum field height and width, the height and width is auto-sized.

Apply to All button

Select to apply settings to all fields of the same type. For example, if an HTML field is selected, settings will apply to all HTML fields.

Tip

• Column widths can be resized on the Diagram page. However, any changes made to the grid on the Diagram page are not saved with the layout.
• Plain text wrapping width and HTML height and width will not adjust with column resizing.

Getting Here

From the Create or Open Gantt Diagram dialog box, click Options. Click the Chart & Grid tab, then click the Content tab.
