Filters tab of the Layout Options page
Overview
Use the Filter tab of the Layout Options page to define filters and the logical constraints and data criteria for the filter criterion. Filters in the Standard category cannot be modified.
Screen Elements
Show all activities option
Select this option to not use any filters and display all activities. To use filters, you must deselect this option. In order to deselect this option, you must have at least one filter applied.
To use and configure filters, click the Add button to create a new filter, or select Apply for an existing filter. When any filter becomes active, the Show all activities option is cleared.
Show activities that match option
Select all selected filters or any selected filters.
Add button
Click to create a new filter. The new filter will be added to the selected filter category. Filters and their criteria are immediately saved to the database. The layout simply saves which filters are applied. Layout filters and filter criteria are only available for the layouts in which they are created. You must select a category, or an existing filter entry, outside of the Standard category to add a new filter. If a category is empty, select the band to add or paste to create a new filter.
Delete button
Click to delete the selected filter.
Copy button
Click to copy the selected filter.
Paste button
Click to create a new filter based on the filter that you copied.
Move to Global button
Moves the selected User or Layout filter to the global section.
Clear All button
Clears all selected filters, which results in displaying all activities when drawing the diagram.
Search field
Enter text to automatically narrow the list of filters to show only entries that match the text. If this field is blank, all filters are listed.
Filter Name list
The name of the filter. You can edit filter criteria by highlighting the filter name, renamed filters by doubling-clicking it, and remove filters by clicking Delete. Filters are grouped by Standard, Global, Layout, and User.
Apply column
Determines whether selected filter is enabled.
Details area
Filter Name field
Displays the name of your filter.
Add button
Adds a row of filter criteria. When a condition row is selected, a new sibling row will be created directly below the currently selected row. Criteria is not pre-selected for the new condition row. When a logic group band is selected, a new child logic group band will be nested with one condition row. The new logic group band defaults to "all of the following" but criteria is not pre-selected for the new condition row.
Delete button
Removes a row of filter criteria and all child entries within it.
Copy button
Copies a row of filter criteria.
Paste button
Pastes a row of filter criteria in the selected location.
Up button
Moves the row of filter criteria to a higher level.
Down button
Moves the row of filter criteria to a lower level.
Indent button
Moves a row of filter criteria to a child sub-row. This filter criteria is combined with its parent criteria to create a very specific criteria statement.
Outdent button
Moves the sub-row of filter criteria to a parent criteria.
Display activities that match list
Determines whether the filter should match any or all of the rules.
Parameter list
The name of the field used for the filtering parameter. This field uses a drop-down selector with a search field. You cannot make manual entries. This field appears without a label in the user interface. It is always the field furthest to the left in a column of four data criteria fields.
Condition list
The list of available constraints. This field appears without a label in the user interface. It is always the field in the center of the column of four data criteria fields. The constraints available change depending on the parameter selected in the Parameter list.
Value field
The specific entry criteria (a currency amount, number of units, code value, etc.) used to evaluate the associated field data in order to determine which data satisfies the filter and which data does not. This value completes the filter definition, <Parameter field><Condition field><Value field>; for example, <Original Budget> <is less than or equals> <500,000>.
This field appears without a label in the user interface. It is always the field furthest to the right in a column of the four data criteria fields, <Parameter field><Condition field><Value1 field><Value2 field>.
If a condition is selected that requires a range, Value 1 is the low value, while Value 2 is the high value. If there is no range, only Value 1 is available and necessary.
