How to Assign a Variant Wildcard to an Item

	What to do:
	Select Start > Items.
	Please note, that this and the following examples are based on the Item and BOM Management* example.* Item management BOM management Steps 3 through 6 are not compulsory. They were taken in order to avoid changes to the overall structure of the Online help examples.
	Select the item ART-1000 EP Ball Pen.
	Select Copy > With structure from the context menu.
	In the Available relations mask, click OK.
	In the automatically selected Item No. field, enter the new item number ART-1000-B.
	Save the entry with the button .
	Select the tab Bill of Material with the left mouse button.
	Select the item ART-1200 Ornamental Ring. This item is replaced by the ornamental ring variant wildcard.
	Select Delete from the context menu.
	Change to Insert mode with the button .
	In the field PNo. enter the item number 60 or accept the default item number.
	Click the field Item No.
	Click the button . The item list is opened.
	Select the variant wildcard ART-1200-V Ornamental Ring (variant) in the Items mask.
	Select Take entry from the context menu.
	Save the entry with the button .
