How to Prepare Items for Variants

What to do:

Select Start > Items.
The mask item is opened.

In order to assign item variants to a variant wildcard, you must enter these items in Item management.

Change to Insert mode with the button .

In the field Item No. enter ART-1200-A as an ornamental ring of the EP ball pen.
When assigning item numbers you have to make sure, that they are unique.

In the field Name enter Ornamental Ring (silver).

Click the field Unit.

Click the button .
The list of units is opened. This selection displays all possible units (e.g. pcs - Pieces, cm - Centimeters, kg - Kilograms, etc.) that can be assigned to an item.

In the displayed selection mask, select the Pcsunit for Pieces as measure for the ornamental ring.

Confirm your selection with the button .

Click the field Material.

Click the button .
The materials list is opened. This selection mask displays all possible materials your item can consist of.

In the displayed selection mask, select the material ST001 (chromium-plated steel) for the ornamental ring.

Select Take entry from the context menu.

Save the entry with the button .

Repeat steps 2 to 13 for the individual ornamental ring variants and enter the following values:

For the Matrix list example, link the items ART-1200-C and ART-1200-C-1:

In the Item mask, select the item ART-1200-C.
Select the tab Bill of Material with the left mouse button.
Change to Insert mode with the button .
In the field PNo. enter the item number, or accept the default.
In the field Item No. click the button .
Click the item ART-1200-C-1 in the Items mask.
Select Take entry from the context menu.
Save the entry with the button .
