Overview

Values are assigned using variables in DataView. You can use variables to make settings for your application, such as language, operators, paths, user-specific objects or you can user-specifically assign default values to fields.

Characteristic Features of Variables

• Variables can have user-specific values.
• Variables can have different data types.
• Variables can be requested in fields of the application.
• Variables that belong to the user SYSTEM are reserved for DataView itself. They are also valid in the application without any limitations.
• System variables can be copied and user-specifically get other values. If this has been done, the original value defined for SYSTEM will not be available in the application any longer.
• Users of your application are either all users (GLOBAL) or a certain user.
