Getting Started

Cross-object searching

The cross-object search is only available in the Web client.
To locate the projects, items, documents, and other objects you want to work with, you can define and run searches. In addition to using standard search mechanisms to search for objects of a particular type, you can use the Web Client's cross--object search pane to search across multiple object types at once.

After the Agile e6 Web client starts up, a screen appears with which you can search for different components on the basis of various parameters. This screen also appears when you select Start > Search from the menu bar or when you click on Search in the toolbar.

The search pane appears in the main pane of the Web Client window. Text boxes at the top of the pane let you define search criteria—a set of attributes against which you want to test objects in the repository to determine whether they should be included in the search results.

The five attributes you can specify are common to most objects:

  • The number assigned to the object
  • The name assigned to the object
  • The revision of the object
  • The owner of object
  • The date when the object was last modified

The options that appear below the attribute text boxes let you choose the object types you want to include in a search. To include and exclude object types, you select and clear their check boxes. Clicking the Select All or Clear All link selects or clears all check boxes at once, and clicking the Hide Options link removes the options from the pane.

If the multi-object search pane does not include attributes you need for your search criteria, click the arrow () beside any of the object types shown on the pane. This opens the standard list for that object type, where you can click to perform a detailed search for objects of that type only.
