User interfaces

Agile e6 has the following user interfaces:

  • Java Client
Used platform-independent for simple and quick access to all data stored in, and managed by Agile e6. Comprising the complete Agile e6 functionality.
  • Web Client
Used by casual users with simplified usability and limited functionality.
The various clients offer the same key features, but each has its individual characteristics. In this documentation we have tried to describe things as client-independently as we can. Differences between the individual clients are marked with the symbol.

Java Client

The Java Client is the standard client. It is the first platform independent client which can be deployed for UNIX and Windows. All ECI related modules e.g. CAD interfaces will work. It has the full functionality for managing data, administrating and customizing the system.

The modul-specific online documentation is based on the functionality and user interface of the Java client.

Web Client

The Web Client was designed for the casual user who requires limited functionality ( Read- and Write access). The usability of the Web Client was simplified and no additional software installation is required. The Web Client cannot be used for system administration or customizing.

Besides the standard functionality for editing, and viewing data records, the Web Client has the following specific features:

  • Multi-object search
The multi-object search is a feature that lets you search across multiple object types using common criteria and save search results, permanently or temporarily.
  • Favorites
The Favorites view in the Browser provides a storage area for search results that you want to retain also for later sessions.
  • Shortcut bar
The shortcut bar is an area in the Web Client window that provides quick access to commonly used functions, such as the Inbox and multi-object search, through buttons that supplement the standard menus.
The graphical user interface of the Web Client can be individually customized and therefore may vary from the illustration shown above.
In the standard version, the Web contains fewer interface elements, menus, and menu commands than the Java Client.
Further information about the Web Client can be found in the Web Client chapter of this online documentation.
