Key Terms

Scope of the replication process

The module determines and compiles a package with all related data for objects - such as items or projects - that have been selected for replication. This package contains all data to be replicated at each recipient site and must be defined for each entity. The package is created at the local site and is exported for all recipient sites. Users need manager privileges in order to be able to execute a replication process.

Data Exchange Module (EER)

This module controls the organization of file transfers and data replication as well as storage of the corresponding meta information at distributed sites. Files are checked in and checked out by means of FileServer functions. Document files are then stored in the local vault.

DDM

Distributed Data Management describes the working principle of the General Replication Module (DDM), the File Replication (DFM), and the Data Distribution module (EER). The General Replication Module (DDM) manages data that is distributed over several locations and vaults as that can be accessed through either one of the two modules.

EER

EDB Extract and Replication describes the concept of the Data Exchange Module (EER).

Incremental export

Records are exported only if a current version of this record is not yet available at the recipient site.

Local vaults

This vault is located at a specific local site and contains replicated data.

Replication, data replication

Distribution of data (e.g. document files or files containing meta data) for a number of sites. The files are later stored in the local vault.
