How to Create a Lifecycle with Transition Steps

 

What to do:

It is recommended to prepare an internal analysis of your business processes since this is the best way to determine the states and transition steps which are required to be created.

Select Manager > Lifecycles > Lifecycles.
The Lifecycle mask is opened.

To change to insert mode click .
In the Name field enter DOCU-Example as the name of the new lifecycle.
The name of the lifecycle must be unique.
In the Description field enter Release Procedure.
To save the entry click .
On the Transitions tab click to change to insert mode.
In the From column select 110 | In Work from the selection menu.
In the To column select 120 | In Approval from the selection menu.
In the Group column select 1000 | Manager Group.
The Group settings define the person/group that is authorized to perform a transition step! Every single transition step can be assigned to a different person/group.
Repeat the steps 6 to 9 to add further transition steps to the lifecycle.
 

As an example, the lifecycle of DOCU-Example may comprise the following transition steps:

It is not possible to insert an entry to the Phase column of the Transitions tab manually. An entry will be set automatically if a phase was selected on the Progress Indicators tab of the Lifecycles Lookup Values mask (Manager > Lifecycles > Lookup Values).
