AutoVue Integration

Key Features

Viewing CAD files

The AutoVue Integration is used to view 2D and 3D files associated with Agile e6 documents without the need of any CAD product installed on your computer. Documents are loaded to and displayed in the Viewer via the respective document mask.

Viewing a 2D file

A 2D file can be viewed in the Viewer from each of the following document types masks:

The "Office Document" mask is not supported, because this mask uses the Office Suite feature. To view an office document with the Agile e6 AutoVue Integration use the "All Documents" mask!

Viewing a 3D assembly

The following document types are supported for viewing a 3D assembly:

Basically all assemblies that are created within the interface (Agile e6.1 and CAD system) can be viewed.

DFM Support

Both viewing functions support the DFM feature. The system detects that the file to view is outdated on the current location and shows the standard file replication dialog to replicate the set of files. On batch replication the system cancels the viewing operation and adds a replication order. The system shows a message that the viewing process has been canceled and a replication order has been added.

Adding a Header/Footer/Watermark

The Agile e6 AutoVue Integration supports the feature to add a header/footer and watermark during printing or to show a permanent watermark in viewing mode. The integration allows to define the meta data mapping between the Agile EDM table fields and the DMS Agile EDM properties. The properties are not site specific.

Multiple Location Support

The Multiple Location Support allows to configure a remote location as a DFM location but uses a central AutoVue installation, or a local AutoVue installation to replicate files.

For detailed information please refer to the AutoVue Integration Installation and Administration Guide for Agile which can be downloaded from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) website (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/agile-eseries-098047.html). Please refer to the respective release.

Offline Metafile Caching

The Offline Metafile Caching allows to pre-cache files before they get displayed in the Viewer. The AutoVue server works in a way that every time a new file (new to AutoVue Server) will be displayed through AutoVue, this file will be converted into a metafile and put into the AutoVue cache. The next time a user wants to view that file, the metafile is taken from the cache instead of loading it from the Agile EDM system into the Viewer.

Users who are the first to view a file have to wait until the new file is converted into the metafile and put in the cache. The conversion process from the native file format to the AutoVue metafile can be a very time consuming process for large CAD assemblies. Since this is an unacceptable condition in productive working environments, the AutoVue integration offers "offline caching" which allows to convert and cache files offline/asynchronously.

Due to multi-location support, the Offline Metafile Caching service has to use the environment variable EP_PVM_SITE.

Markup File

For any CAD file, diffferent types of markups (e.g. Text, Note, Attachment) can be created and stored within the Agile e6 application. The AutoVue integration allows to edit existing markups.

When closing the Agile e6 AutoVue Integration and there are unsaved changes to a markup file, the following error message is dispalyed.

There is unsaved markup information! Do you want to close anyway without saving?

Add a File to a Document

Any kind of file format can be added to a document and be loaded into the Viewer in order to create a markup.

Start a Collaborate Session

Within the Viewer, it is possible to start a Collaborate Session, which means that different users join a session in order to discuss or modify markups.

Join AutoVue Real Time Collaboration Session

Simple method to join AutoVue Real Time Collaboration Sessions from Agile e6.

Compare Documents and Files in e6 and AutoVue

Ability to compare 2D and 3D documents and files in Agile e6 and in AutoVue using the Compare in AutoVue feature.

Agile and Search Agile Features

Ability to search for documents and files using the Search Agile feature. The Agile feature allows you to quickly open favorites from the File Open mask.

Ability to View Snapshots

Can see the list of snapshots in the Snapshot tab.

Assign Specific Licenses to Users

AutoVue Integration provides 4 different license classes:
• Office (Microsoft Office)
• 2D (2D documents)
• 3D (3D documents)
• EDA (Electronic Design Automation)

Any or all of the licenses can be assigned to a particular user.
