General Replication
Key Terms
Batch Replication
This term describes a replication mode of the File Replication Module (DFM). In this mode, files are transferred in regular intervals at the times specified in the corresponding replication order.
DDM
Distributed Data Management is the basic concept of the General
Replication Module (DDM), and the File Replication (DFM). The General Replication Module (DDM) manages data that is distributed
over several locations and vaults and which can be accessed using the other two
modules.
DFM
Distributed File Management describes the function of the File Replication Module (DFM).
Local vaults
Vaults of a specific distributed site in which replicated data is to be stored
locally.
Replication, data replication
Exchange of data (e.g. document files or files containing meta data) between several distributed locations. The files are later stored in the local vault.
File Replication Module (DFM)
This module controls the replication of document files for several distributed
sites. The transfer mode is selected as part of the check-out procedure: The transfer
may be initiated immediately or at a specific time (initiated using a batch process).
The FileSever module is used for the distribution of files. Document files are
then stored in the local vault.
