Overview
Menus are interactive objects on the user interface that trigger functions. Menus contain items to call program functions, e.g. for opening masks or editing records.
Characteristic features of the menu object
- Menus contain (usually several) items.
- Menus can be used as user-specific top-menus.
- Menus can be used as pull-down menus at the top-menu.
- Menus can be state-dependently linked to masks (NoSelect-, Select- and Edit menus).
- Menus can be linked to fields (field selection menu). They are displayed as choice box.
- Menus can be used as sub-menus of any other menu/button.
- Menus can be composed of menu components.
Characteristic features of the item object
- Items are used to call program functions (userexits, macros).
- Items can be used in several menus. They always use the same function call but different parameters for the call.
- Items in field selection menus (choice boxes) can be automatically created from entries in table columns.
- Items in mask menus can automatically appear in a dynamic pull-down menu at the top-menu (Edit menu).
- Items in the Edit menu of a mask will appear in the menu or not depending on the current mode of mask-edit state.
- User access to items can be controlled using profiles.
