Coding Restrictions

  • Installer
The installer supports only ASCII characters for domain and application names, and for installation directories.
  • External Mailing
    • On client side, the Windows 7 mail API does not support UTF-8 characters. This feature has been added with Windows 8.
At the moment we can only support UTF-8 characters in the active Windows codepage when initiating client side mailing.
    • Server side mailing does not have such restrictions. Generated mails can contain all UTF-8 characters in the text or the attachment file names.
  • ECI test program
Programs linked for the use on the client, e.g. eci_test, do not fully support Unicode file names or command line arguments. This is because we only provide the ICU library on our server platforms.
But eci_test can read and write UTF-8 characters when communicatin with the server process.
