The PDK APIs now provide more control for the portlet developer. This controls includes improvements in security as well as debugging and maintaining your provider.
With this release of the PDK, your portlets can use the OID server as a repository of users, groups, and permissions. By enabling OID security in the PDK, your providers can:
This feature requires Oracle9iAS Portal Release 2 (9.0.2.6 and higher).
When writing Java portlets you may have some deployment specific properties you want to set so that their values may be retrieved somewhere inside your provider code. The PDK provides utilities to enable the retrieval of both provider specific and non-provider specific JNDI variables within a J2EE container.
Using the PDK, it is now easier to debug your provider issues. Provider Validation displays cause and action error messages directly from the JPDK Test Page. Provider definitions are thoroughly validated to allow you to view all provider issues at once.
The Java Portlet Wizard is a Oracle9i JDeveloper plug-in that enables developers to quickly build custom J2EE-based portlets using a wizard-based UI. The wizard creates a portlet that can be deployed to your Application Server directly from Oracle9i JDeveloper.
OmniPortlet is component of Oracle9iAS Portal that helps page designers to quickly publish data from various different data sources (CSV, xml, Web Services, JCA, SQL and Web Page) and render them in various layouts (Tabular, Chart, Form, List, News). OmniPortlet has been updated to include new data sources and layouts.
Using OmniPortlet, you can now declaratively create portlets from a whole new set of data sources including secured content, database objects, and web pages
OmniPortlet provides a mechanism to define the credential information for any data sources: URL based data source (CSV or XML), Web Services by HTTP Basic Authentication, SQL (databases) by standard JDBC connection string, and J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA).
OmniPortlet introduces a easy way to publish data from a database using the new SQL data source. This data source uses standard JDBC (Java Database Connectivity) drivers to connect to the database.
With the new Web page data source in OmniPortlet, page designers can now use Web Clipping to navigate to an existing Web application, capture the tabular data response, and render its presentation in a Portal as a table, chart, graph, as well as other formats.
OmniPortlet provides a data source that allows the page designer to enter a URL to the WSDL (Web Service Description Language), select the operation and the parameters. At runtime OmniPortlet executes the Web Service operation to retrieve the data.
You can now filter and sort data from any data source using OmniPortlet filtering feature, even if the data source does not support filtering at the data source level.
OmniPortlet offers now a way to make the news scroll vertically. With this layout extension, the page designer can choose to publish news on a Web page. This portlet can be smaller than a normal news portlet because it can scroll through all of the news content available, thus allowing more space on the page for additional portlets.
The Web Clipping portlet allows you to extract specific portion or "clipping" (e.g., HTML table) of a Web page content. The page designer can browse to the desired Web page, deconstruct the page into "clipping", then preview the selected clipping in the portlet. The Web Clipping portlet has been updated to include new features that provide more control to the page designer.
Web Clipping has been enhanced for full page capture. This expands the range of supported clippings, so that whole pages, along with all the contained content, can be clipped and presented, in a portlet.
The Web Clipping Provider provides a basic mechanism that allows the page designer to restrict users from clipping content from unauthorized external Web Sites.
The URL-Based portlets have been updated to include support for external applications using SSL.
Oracle9iAS Portal offers pre-built portlets that provide solutions to business looking to quickly integrate portal with their existing application. There portlets are free to subscribers of Oracle9iAS Portal Developer Services and are supported only through the Oracle discussion forum.
The Unified Messaging Service (UMS) Portlet provides access to the Oracle Notification Service (ONS, formerly the Oracle9iAS Wireless Push Service). With a single interface, this portlet gives the user the ability to send Voice Mail, Fax, SMS, and Email messages to a large number of carriers and networks
This portlet enables the management of online discussion on Oracle9iAS Portal. It provides functionality to register users, create forums threads as well as subscribe to existing threads or forums.
This portlet provides a web based Telnet VT100 emulator. It can be used to connect to any machine running a telnet server.
The SAP portlets enables you to display content from your SAP applications. New portlets include:
This portlet provides an intuitive indexing view of pages in Oracle9iAS Portal. Specifically, this index is a tree view, where nodes in this tree represent portal folders or pages.
This release of the Lotus Notes Portlet has been updated to include support for SSO without requiring Inline Rendering. This portlets now expose advanced Lotus Domnio Mail functionalities.
This IMAP portlet has been updated to include new features such as the ability to delete and forward messages, enhanced support to read a wide range of multipart mail types, compose and send text/html messages, read mails from any subscribed folders.
