Use this page to create and manage providers and provider groups.

To view a list of portlets owned by a provider, or a list of providers owned by a provider group, click a provider or provider group in the Name column.

Field Description
Path

Displays your current location in the Navigator:

  • When Path: Providers displays, the Navigator displays a list of providers and provider groups.
  • When Path: Providers > provider_group displays, the Navigator displays a list of providers in a selected provider group.
  • When Path: Providers > provider_name displays, the Navigator displays a list of portlets owned by a selected provider.

Click hyperlinks in the Path to drill up and down to different levels of the Navigator.

Type

Displays whether an entry in the Name column is a Provider or Provider Group. This column also displays the following special types of providers:

  • URL Services Provider (contains URL portlets and XML portlets)
  • Data View Provider
  • Web Clipping Provider

Entries in the Type column can be sorted alphabetically. To reverse sort the entries in reverse order, click Type.

Name

Displays the name of the provider or provider group. Click an item in the Name column to drill down to:

  • A list of portlets owned by a provider, or
  • A list of providers owned by a provider group

Entries in the Name column are sorted alphabetically. To reverse sort the entries in reverse order, click Name.

Actions

Displays the actions you can perform on a provider or provider group. Only actions you have privileges to perform display next to each provider or provider group.

Open

Click to view a list of portlets owned by a provider, or a list of providers owned by a provider group.

Edit

Click to edit properties of a provider or provider group.

  • For providers, you can edit multiple properties, including the provider's Display Name, URL connection information, and external application login details.
  • For provider groups, you can edit the group's Name and Display Name.

Delete

Click to delete the provider group or provider.

  • If you delete a provider, all portlets owned by the provider are also deleted.
  • If you delete a provider group, all providers owned by the group are also deleted.
