When you set the proxy information for the provider, the proxy is set in the provider definition in the middle tier. This proxy must be the same as that defined within Oracle9iAS Portal. You can define the proxy in Oracle9iAS Portal by going to the Administer page. On the Portal tab, click Proxy Settings.

| HTTP Proxy Host |
Enter the name of a proxy server if one is required to make a URL connection with the provider, for example, when Oracle9iAS Portal requests one of the provider's portlets. A proxy server provides access to content from servers outside a firewall. |
| HTTP Proxy Port | Enter the port number for the HTTP Proxy Host. If you specify an HTTP Proxy Host, but not a port, HTTP Proxy Port is set to default port number 80. |
| No Proxy for Domains beginning with | Enter the name of any domain to which you can directly connect, bypassing a proxy server. Domain names are the part of a URL that contain the names of a business, or organization, or government agency, for example, oracle.com. You can also specify a list of host names for which the proxy will be bypassed. |
