A URL Services Provider enables you to expose URL portlets and XML portlets to Oracle9iAS Portal. Before you can build these portlets in the mid-tier Navigator, you must be able to access an existing URL Services Provider, or create a new one.
In the mid-tier navigator, ensure you are on Path: Providers. The navigator will display a list of providers and provider groups.
Click Create New... Provider.
In the Name field, enter a name for the provider. The name is used internally to create the provider.xml file. You or the Portal Administrator will also use this name when registering the finished URL Services Provider with a Oracle9iAS Portal instance.
In Display Name, enter a more descriptive name for the provider. This display name will identify the provider in the mid-tier navigator.
Click Next.
At this point you can click Finish
to create the provider. If you want to provide more information in
the optional fields on this wizard page and the next, click
at the top of the page to display descriptions of each field.
After creating the provider, you or a Portal administrator may want to register it to expose any portlets created in it to an Oracle9iAS Portal instance.
You may also want to add the provider you created to a provider group. A provider group enables you to organize providers and simplifying their registration of providers.
