Definition

Provider groups enable you to organize providers in the mid-tier navigator as well as simplify registering them with an Oracle9iAS Portal instance. You typically create a group to contain providers that share a common feature, such as belonging to the same organization, performing similar functions, or generating similar content.

A Portal Administrator can register individual providers one by one, or use a provider group to register mutiple providers with an Oracle9iAS Portal instance. Registering a provider group automatically registers all providers in the group at the same time.
