Use the Items tab to select measures, dimensions, and hierarchies for a query.
As you move items from the Available box to the Selected box, you specify the items for the query. Some of the items that are listed in the Available box might be incompatible with the items that are specified in the Selected box. The items are incompatible if they do not have shared dimensions.
If this situation occurs, then you will notice a yellow triangle icon beside the item name in the Available box. The yellow triangle icon and the following text will also display near the bottom of the Items tab: Indicates Incompatibility with Selected Items. While you can add some incompatible items from the Available box to the Selected box, you will need to ensure all items in the Selected box are compatible before continuing with the definition of the query.
Available
Displays a list of measures, dimensions, and hierarchies that you can select for the query.
Selected
Displays a list of measures, dimensions, and hierarchies that are selected for the query. Use the shuttle buttons to move items between the Available and Selected boxes.
Any dimensions that are associated with a selected measure but are not listed in this box are considered hidden, are assigned a default selection, and are displayed on the Hidden Dimensions tab. The default selection for a hidden dimension is the top level of the default hierarchy.
Automatically Add/Remove Dimensions
Specifies whether the dimensions associated with a particular measure are automatically moved between the Available and Selected boxes with the measure.
Description
Displays a description of the currently selected item. If multiple items are selected, then the box displays a description for the last selected item. The displayed text is the value of the Description property of the item.
