Calculation Wizard: Percent markup calculation

The Calculation Type page accepts input for the following items for a percent markup calculation:

Click the drop down arrow and select an item from the list. This item represents a newer quantity from which an older quantity will be subtracted.

From

Click the drop down arrow and select an item from the list. This item represents an older quantity that will be subtracted from a newer quantity. The older quantity becomes the basis for calculating the percent.

This type of calculation applies to measures only.

Formula Description

The formula for this calculation is:

(y-x)/x

Description

This formula is used to return the percentage markup between two measures where the basis for the calculation is the older measure.

Example

An example of this calculation is:

(From - Markup) / Markup

or

Suppose that the new price is 110 and the old price is 100, which is calculated as follows:

(110-100)/100 = +10%

The percent markup is +10%, relative to the old price of 100.
