Zoom to Geometry

(Invoked by View > Zoom to Geometry)

Specify a geometry to display a reasonable area around its center.

Layer: The layer containing the geometry to be used for the zoom operation. (Specify the geometry using the Graphical Selection or Free SQL methods, explained below.) The layer can be the current layer or another layer already loaded. To specify a layer that is not yet loaded, press the Add Layer button.

Add Layer button: Lets you load an additional layer from which to select geometries. You can use an added layer to refine the display. For example, if the current layer includes roads in several states and you add a States layer and specify New Jersey, you can display only roads that spatially interact with New Jersey.

Select the attributes that you wish to zoom to: Choose either the Graphical Selection or Free SQL method to construct the WHERE clause (SQL) to identify the geometry for the zoom operation.
