Instructions for installing the agent


Download the Linux_x86_64_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_4_0.zip file from OTN.

After downloading the software, verify that the size of the downloaded software matches with the size (bytes) displayed along with the download link.Follow the instructions oultined in section "Verifying the Downloaded Software" in the below URL to verify the size of the downloaded software:

1. Methods for mass deployment of agents
-----------------------------------------

 a. Copy the Agent downloaded file to <OMS_HOME>/sysman/agent_download/10.2.0.4 directory.

  Note: - If <OMS_HOME>/sysman/agent_download/10.2.0.4 directory doesn't exist then create it manually.

 b. Go to the <OMS_HOME>/sysman/agent_download/10.2.0.4

 c. <OMS_HOME>/bin/unzip Linux_x86_64_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_4_0.zip



 Once the agent software the is staged in the directory mentioned above then either of the following 

methods can be used for mass agent deployment:
 
   -- agentDownload script
 
   
     If agent_download.rsp doesn't exists at <OMS_HOME>/sysman/agent_download/10.2.0.4 directory 

     Then execute the following:
       
       mv agent_download.rsp.bak agent_download.rsp

   
     Then follow the instructions in section 6.4 of the Enterprise Manager Grid Control Basic 

     Installation and Configuration Guide available at:

2. Interactively installing Agent using Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) 
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The agent download kit can also be used to perform an interactive agent install. Steps are as follows:

	1. Extract Linux_x86_64_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_4_0.zip file to <Agent Dir>.
	2. Go to <Agent Dir>/linux_x64/agent
	3. Execute <Agent Dir>/linux_x64/agent/runInstaller

3. Silent installation of the agent
---------------------------------------


For silent installation using DVD, copy the <DVD>/response/additional_agent.rsp file to a 

location on the local machine and modify the Value Unspecified entries accordingly. Invoke the 

runInstaller by executing:

<DVD>/<runInstaller> -silent -responseFile <location>/additional_agent.rsp


For silent installation using the extracted agent download zip file, copy the 

<UNZIP_DIR>/response/additional_agent.rsp file to a location on the local machine and modify the 

Value Unspecified entries accordingly. Invoke the runInstaller by executing:

<UNZIP_DIR>/<runInstaller> -silent -responseFile <location>/additional_agent.rsp

4. NFS Mounted Agent Installation
----------------------------------

Enterprise Manager 10g R2 introduces the ability to install a single Agent on a shared NFS 

filesystem, and then have multiple hosts share that same ORACLE_HOME. Details on installing a 

NFS mounted agent can be found in section 4.0 of the Agent Deployment Best Practices paper
