Oracle FMW MapViewer 11.1.1.7.0 (Patch Set 6) Release Notes
New and changed features ==================================
See the MapViewer Users' Guide for a more complete list.
o MapViewer editor
Effective with Oracle Fusion Middleware Release 11.1.1.7, a MapViewer editor
is provided as an integrated component of MapViewer. It is a web-based (Java
Applet) spatial data editing tool.
o New JavaScript Mapping API
A new (v2) version of JavaScript API (oraclemapsv2.js), that utilizes HTML5
(Canvas and SVG) capabilities in modern browsers, is now available.
Theme-based FOI layers are rendered completely within the browser resulting in
improved performance and interactivity.
Important notes:
(a) The V2 API will only work with modern browsers that support SVG or HTML5 Canvas.
(b) oraclemapsv2.js includes jQuery 1.7.2, some jQuery plugins, and a library
for HTML5 Canvas.
If your application already includes jQuery 1.7.2 or later, then use the
oraclemapsv2_core.js file instead of oraclemapsv2.js.
To use oraclemapsv2_core.js your
Note that the existing Oracle Maps (fsmc or v1) API is still supported and
will continue to include bug fixes and enhancements in future releases.
o GDAL-OGR and Teradata Data with Custom Geometry Themes
Effective with Oracle Fusion Middleware Release 11.1.1.7, custom geometry
themes can be based on spatial data from a GDAL-OGR or Teradata provider.
Previously, custom geometry themes could only access shapefile data.
o Enhanced OGC WFS and WMTS Themes Support
This release includes numerous enhancements in supporting (consuming) external
WFS and WMTS services as MapViewer themes.
o Un-exploded deployment of MapViewer EAR file
This release now supports deploying MapViewer's EAR file in un-exploded form.
Please see the user's guide for details.
o MapBuilder enhancements, such as annotation text and WFS/WMTS support.
o Enhanced MapViewer console with streamlined Admin functions.
o The MapViewer EAR file no longer bundles any demo, tutorial, or Java and
JavaScript API Docs.
These are now part of a separate sample app (named mvdemo) which will be
available on OTN.
o A separate Glassfish based Quick Start kit, which includes pre-deployed
MapViewer EAR and a separate MapViewer Samples & Demos app.
The demos app can be accessed using the /mvdemo context path after starting
the Glassfish server.
o A new MVDEMO sample data set based on raster and vector data from
naturalearthdata.com. The V2 JavaScript tutorials use this sample data.
Known issues =============================================
- On certain WLS domains (mostly when ADF run-time library is deployed), you
may see errors when trying to preview tile layers. To fix this issue, modify
the weblogic.xml descriptor file found in mapviewer.ear's WEB-INF/ folder, and
uncomment the entry for the jstl 1.2 library as shown below (note the jsf
section should remain commented-out):
