This is a text description of Figure 9-2, "Array Size Definition in the DB2/400 Architecture for SELECT".

This illustration is adequately described in the "Array Processing" section of the chapter, which is presented near the figure.

A Client is shown connecting to an Oracle database server by means of Oracle Net. The Oracle application defines the array.

The Oracle database server connects by means of Oracle Net to an AS/400 computer. In this connection, the RPC FETCH SIZE defines the array size in bytes.

The DB2/400 database and the gateway (TG4BD2/400) are operating within the As/400 computer. The gateway is shown communicating to the DB2/400 database using the "Gateway's ARRAY BLOCK SIZE".
