Purpose of this Checklist

The table in this document is a checklist for you to use to assist you in preparing to install Oracle9i.

Instructions

Use the Oracle9i Installation Guide Release 1 (9.0.1) for UNIX Systems and the release notes for your platform to ensure that all required steps are completed. When you have completed this checklist, use it to help you provide information you will be prompted for during installation.


Note:

This checklist is not a substitute for the Oracle9i Installation Guide Release 1 (9.0.1) for UNIX Systems. Use this checklist in conjunction with the installation guide and the Oracle9i release notes for Sun SPARC Solaris. 


The column on the left indicates requirements to be met, tasks to be completed, and information to be obtained before you begin to install Oracle9i. Use the column on the right to mark that you have confirmed you have minimum requirements, mark that you have completed tasks, and write any required information.

Installation Checklist to Install Oracle9i 

    Installation Requirements--Hardware

 

    Requirements Confirmed?

 

RAM Memory allocation: Minimum 256 MB 

 

Swap Space: Minimum 2 x RAM or 400 MB, whichever is greater. 

 

CD-ROM drive: A CD-ROM drive capable of reading CD-ROM disks in the ISO 9660 format with RockRidge extensions. 

 

    Installation Requirements--OS Software

 

    Requirements Confirmed?

 

Disk Space: 3 GB 

 

Operating System: Solaris 2.6, Solaris7 (2.7), or Solaris8 (2.8). 

 

Operating System Patches Required: Yes. (Refer to release notes to ensure you have correct patches installed.) 

 

Tuning Kernel Parameters for Oracle Required: Yes. (Refer to release notes for Sun SPARC Solaris to ensure that you have proper parameter settings.) 

 

X Server system software. (Refer to the installation guide for more information on the X Server System and emulator issues.)
