| Oracle Transparent Gateway for IBM DRDA Installation and User's Guide Release 9.0.1.0.1 for Sun Solaris Part Number A90399-01 |
|
This chapter provides information about hardware and software requirements that is specific to this release of the Oracle Transparent Gateway for IBM DRDA. It includes the following sections:
A Sun host processor that can run the required version of Solaris is needed.
For most installations, 3M of real memory is recommended for the first user to support the Oracle Transparent Gateway for IBM DRDA. Estimated memory requirement for each concurrent use of the gateways is 1M.
The total real memory requirement for each concurrent use of the gateway also depends on the following factors:
The hardware requires any network attachment supported by SunLink SNA Peer-to-Peer networking for SNA communication, or Solaris TCP/IP Networking for TCP/IP communication. The network attachment is typically a Token Ring or SDLC Coaxial attachment. The hardware must support independent LUs if you want concurrent SNA access. The network attachment for TCP/IP is typically an Ethernet attachment.
An internal or external CD-ROM drive is required for installation.
400M of disk space is required for installation.
The system software configuration described in these requirements is supported by Oracle Corporation as long as the underlying system software products are supported by their respective vendors. Verify the latest support status with your system software vendors.
Sun Solaris version 2.6 or higher is required.
You must have at least one of the following IBM DRDA databases at a release level supported by IBM:
SunLink SNA Peer-to-Peer Version 9.0 is required. You must also have either CPI-C support or the latest patches for SunLink SNA Peer-to-Peer, as shown below:
The following SunLink patches must be applied before installing the Oracle Transparent Gateway for IBM DRDA:
Contact Sun Microsystems customer support for a current list of patches for SunLink SNA Peer-to-Peer before installing the gateway.
The following Oracle server is required to act as the integrating Oracle Server:
If the integrating Oracle Server is not on the same Sun host as the gateway, then Oracle Net is required to support communication between the Sun host and the integrating Oracle Server.
The following Oracle networking products are required:
Oracle Net software is included in this Oracle Transparent Gateway for IBM DRDA release. Your gateway license includes a license for Oracle Net and an adapter of your choice. This license restricts the use of Oracle Net for gateway access.
In addition to the documentation provided with the Oracle Transparent Gateway for IBM DRDA distribution kit, the following Oracle documentation is recommended:
In addition to your Oracle documentation, ensure that you have appropriate documentation for your platform (Sun), for your operating system (Solaris) and for your DRDA server (DB2/MVS, DB2/400, DB2 Universal Database, DB2 server, or DB2 server for VM).
