Types of XML Rules

The term Business Rules is a generic name used when discussing any of the following rules. Refer to the Business Rules section of this help system for details on each of these type. 

  • Attached Rules:  Attached to transactions and provide additional processing options.  

  • Calculate Rules:  Perform policy and segment calculations. 

  • CopyBook Rules:  Store reusable configuration for use in other rules, transactions and across all configured plans. 

  • Function Rules:  Contain reusable logic or calculations. 

  • Plan Rules: Define a plan prior to establishing a policy. 

  • Screen Rules: Associated with screens that are available in the application. 

  • System Rules: Control system processing.

  • User Defined Rules: Created and defined by users. The rule's type sets the context of the rule.

  • Widget Rules: Configured to administer widgets in OIPA.

  • Transaction Rules: Configured as business events that end users (most likely Customer Service Representatives) process when an event occurs that affects a policy. Transactions become activities in OIPA.

  • Segment Rules:Contain information about the base policy as well as additional riders or features of the policy. Used to configure segments for each plan.
